Abstract: |
Salvage excavations and a watching brief were undertaken ahead of a re-surfacing programme on the site of the Toll-Booth in Askrigg Market Place, which was believed to have been built shortly after the granting of the town's market charter by Elizabeth I. Features relating to an early post-medieval pit or soakaway were revealed along with several sherds of early post-medieval glazed pottery and gaming pieces or tokens. [AIP] |
