Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of a proposed new Sewage Treatment Works. Although the route of the proposed pipeline crossed an area believed to lie within the speculated boundaries of the deserted medieval settlement of Frome Belet, the excavations revealed no archaeological deposits or cultural material indicative of settlement activity. It therefore seemed unlikely that the medieval settlement extended as far south as the development area. During the course of the field evaluation only two residual artefacts were recovered; a flint flake of uncertain date, and a sherd of Roman pottery. [Au(adp)] |
