Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken on land at the moated site of Grove House in advance of redevelopment. Substantial post-medieval overburden was revealed sealing a deep deposit of silty clay which contained sparse medieval pottery sherds and moderate amounts of tile fragments. Many of the tiles fragments were slightly rough and hand-made. The deposits probably represent the fill of part of a moat or another deep features. The finds were thought to have derived from the demolition of a medieval building formerly occupying the moated enclosure. [Au(adp)] |
