Abstract: |
A watching brief following topsoil stripping during the construction of a housing estate revealed no archaeological features. Metal detecting recovered mainly post medieval objects but also a fragment of Bronze Age sword in the continental 'Carp's Tongue' tradition. Taken in tandem with previous finds, it suggests it formed part of a bronze-smith's hoard scattered by ploughing. The lack of features suggests the presence of an eroded land surface. [AIP] |
