Abstract: |
The site lay in an area where prehistoric, Roman and post-medieval activity was present. From the documentary evidence there was little to suggest that the earlier periods of activity extended across the site of the proposed development. However, more generally the site lay to the south of a major Roman settlement (Ariconium), and prehistoric flints had been located nearby at Adam's Cote. The majority of the archaeological evidence manifested itself in the existing buildings at Castle End (HSMR 15166) which dated from the 17th century AD. [Au(abr)] |
