Abstract: |
<summary>Following earlier work at the site, archaeological excavation was carried out on the drainage trenches during the construction of new car showrooms. Evidence was found for a stone-built circuit wall on stake foundations by the river shore, cut into the face of a gravel bank. This was demolished during the Roman period, when the site appears to have been intensively occupied. Six inhumations of uncertain date, two wells and stone-built fence lines were also revealed. {italon}Au(abr){italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} SOU 414 (SCC HM investigation identification no) |
