Abstract: |
The report details the known history and archaeology of a 0.1ha plot of land off Bridge Street, Weldon, which was to become a domestic garden rather than agricultural land. The plot was pasture and had previously been ploughed, but had not been developed since at least 1587 and probably much earlier. It lay within an area rich in archaeological remains dating from the Roman period and potentially the Bronze Age up to the medieval period. Specifically it lay within the designated area of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Little Weldon Roman Villa (County no. 105). There was no evidence that archaeological remains of any date extended into the plot. [Au(adp)] |
