Abstract: |
A desk-based study of the available documentary, cartographic and photographic sources was conducted on a proposed new road linking Crewe Green with the A5020. This found that although no archaeological fieldwork had previously been conducted along the line of the proposed route, there was some potential for the discovery of archaeological remains dating to the prehistoric, Roman, and/or medieval periods. The most significant of these were the medieval or post-medieval sluices belonging to Crewe Green Mill and a group of earthworks of uncertain origin and date. [Au] |
