Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment was undertaken of land proposed for an extension to a quarry. Aerial photographs of the site and the surrounding area were studied and although some cropmarks and earthworks were noted, including ridge and furrow, none were present with any certainty within the proposed quarry extension area. Spot finds recovered from the area suggested prehistoric, Roman and Anglo-Saxon activity, although none came from the site itself. A walk-over survey and study of historical sources were also undertaken. No further evaluation of the site was deemed necessary, the recommended course of action was for a watching brief to be held over topsoil stripping. [AIP] |
