Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the clearance of temporary buildings and the excavation of foundations at Henley Fort, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Two features were identified as natural solution hollows and recent disturbance was noted, but nothing of archaeological interest was observed. It was concluded that the construction of the fort may have involved some terracing in this area, but that there was otherwise no evidence relating to its creation or its use prior to the recent past.
