Abstract: |
<summary>A desk-based assessment, supported by preliminary field survey, was undertaken of an area of mine-workings proposed for shaft-capping and reclamation works. Apart from a late 20th century vehicle inspection pit, the only surviving structure was the stub of a boiler house chimney stack of the 1880-1883 pumping engine on Lanyon's Shaft. Lanyon's Shaft itself survived as a surface feature (a shallow, irregular depression), and two associated spoil tips were identified. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
