Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at Ivory House, All Saints' Green, Norwich, a single trench being excavated to a total depth of 2.4m. Three archaeological features were recorded, all of them mid-late medieval pits. They were sealed beneath demolition and/or ground make-up layers approximately 1.2m deep. While the function(s) of the pits remained uncertain, they were probably associated with medieval properties occupying the street frontage of All Saints' Green, perhaps serving to receive domestic or industrial refuse or cess.
