Abstract: |
The desk-based archaeological assessment for the proposed stable yard and bungalow showed that archaeological remains were known in the vicinity and that there was the possibility of similar deposits within the development area. The site was within the medieval village of Cossington and close to the medieval church. Prehistoric, Roman and Anglo-Saxon finds had recently been made in the close vicinity. Map evidence indicated that the site had not been significantly built on since 1842. Therefore any remains may have been well preserved, with the help of alluvial cover, beneath the present ground surface. [Au(abr)] |
