Abstract: |
An additional assessment was carried out on the archaeological potential within the site of the Eldon Square Redevelopment Scheme. The investigation revealed that the north and west sides of Old Eldon Square and the north side of Blackett Square had been extensively cellared and that the Newgate Street frontage appeared to have been relatively free from cellaring. The results suggested that there was very little chance that any deposits of archaeological significance survived within the footprint of the Old Elgon Square and Blackett Street frontages. The report recommended further watching brief work. [Au(abr)] |
