Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken on the west bank of the River Parrett, north of Burrow Bridge. The stratigraphy was recorded from exploratory test pits and cores sunk into the bank, including the depth of peat and riverine and marine clay deposits. An associated desk top survey suggested that parts of the river north of Burrow Bridge were contained within an artificial channel that might have been created before the mid 13th century.
