Abstract: |
Two evaluation trenches were excavated on the site. The earliest deposit identified was a clay floor in trench 1, with a possible medieval date. A late medieval mortar floor was identified in trench 2, part of a floor sequence belonging to two buildings set side by side, next to the river. Demolition deposits dating from the 15th century were identified above the floors. A wall from a building on the 1874 OS map was recorded in trench 1. Further archaeological work was recommended.
