Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained in advance of the construction of a new access road and car park. The earliest activity was represented by a small group of pits or large post holes, dated to the Bronze Age by worked flints. Ditches associated with the extant earth banks represented boundaries between the properties of the shrunken medieval village of Throxenby. More significantly, an earthwork platform, provisionally identified as recent features (perhaps once relating to a tennis court). [Au(adp)] |
