Abstract: |
A survey was undertaken of Sancreed Beacon as part of a wider management plan survey. Prehistoric sites within the study area included the site of a chambered tomb, two cairns, a pasture boundary, two roundhouses and two possible houses a field system and an enclosure. During the medieval period the area was not settled, the only remains of activity comprising parts of two outfield enclosures. Throughout the post-medieval period until the last few decades of the 20th century the land was used for rough grazing, represented by a number of pasture boundaries. Traces of nineteenth century mining were also identified. [AIP] |
