Abstract: |
During the replacement of parts of the 19th century floor of a medieval church, a number of memorial slabs were revealed. The stones were subsequently recorded archaeologically and their inscriptions catalogued. Where present, the memorial slabs had been placed on the layer forming the base of a series of voids beneath the floor, constructed in the Victorian period. The slabs had clearly been redeposited. The majority were found to date from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. [AIP] |
