Abstract:
A combined review of existing archaeological data along with field observations produced no evidence of archaeological activity along the course of, or within, the construction trench of the new Dancing Hill distribution main. However, along the Coker Hill to Odcombe Main prehistoric finds and one buried feature were found, slight evidence of Romano-British activity was revealed and the remains of both medieval and post-medieval settlement were uncovered. The construction of the pipeline also provided an opportunity to record a section through lynchets on the northern slope of Coker Hill although no dating evidence was obtained from these features.
