Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken when human remains were unearthed during roadworks in Coppergate, adjacent to All Saints Church. The lack of well stratified dateable material made it difficult to assign a date to the skeletal remains. It was certain, however, that the bodies were buried in the churchyard of All Saints church, which, pre-1782, extended out beneath the present day line of Coppergate. One sherd of 14th century pottery was discovered close to the burials. [Au] |
