Abstract: |
The assessment identified the proposal area as being situated close to the church and castle, and within the medieval street system of Conisbrough. Structures adjacent to the development, fronting onto Church Street were identified as being of 18th and 19th century date. Several walls at the edges of the proposal area were identified as being of possible archaeological interest. The survival of sub-surface remains may have been affected by ground disturbances. However, areas outside the immediate vicinity of the flats, including roads, car parks and gardens may have a greater potential for the preservation of medieval or post-medieval features. [Au(abr)] |
