Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief undertaken during the development of the site revealed the presence of a wall foundation and a possible stone drain/soak-away. These remains indicated the existence of archaeological deposits that predated the hotel and, therefore, may have been associated with the nearby Cistercian Abbey of Sawley or pre-abbey settlement.
