Abstract: |
A parallel ditch and gully with an intervening possible occupation surface, a second undated gully as well as a large shallow pit were discovered in trench 2. The ditch and the possible occupation surface yielded sherds of pottery dating from the Middle Bronze Age. The parallel gully and shallow pit may have been attributable to the same period through finds of struck and fire-cracked flint recovered from their fills. To the north east and within trench 9 a possible pit produced sherds of possible later prehistoric pottery, while a nearby and further linear feature also yielded one fragment of fire-cracked flint. Although this is far from conclusive, this may point to a series of contemporary features suggesting possible Bronze Age settlement activity at the site. The remaining intervening seven trenches produced negative results. [Au(abr)] |
