Abstract:
A watching brief was carried out on the demolition of the baths. The removal of the floor and walls of the subterranean boiler-house revealed stratigraphy dating from the 12th century to present day. This included evidence of a waterside wooden structure/building, in organic silts. Above the silts was a wall and part of a floor from a medieval building, possibly from the 14th century, which was removed in the early post-medieval period. [Au(abr)]
