Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken on the route of the proposed distributor road. No statutorily protected sites would have been affected by the proposed scheme. The presence of prehistoric and Roman finds and features in the vicinity indicated the general potential of the area. Field A was likely to have been of limited archaeological potential because of the previous effects of railway construction and subsequent infilling. There was potential for the survival of palaeoenvironmental deposits at either end of the route corridor. The former may have contained buried river channel deposits relating to earlier courses of the River Exe and the latter could have contained waterlogged organic material. [Au(adp)] |
