Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during groundwork associated with the demolition of the site of the former Central Garage in Cinque Ports Street, Rye, East Sussex and also during the removal of subterranean fuel tanks at the site. Exposed were the foundations of the town's 14th century defensive wall, and several deposits of medieval and post-medieval date were observed and recorded in association with the wall. An upstanding Scheduled section of the town walls and the extant remains of a large c.1800 warehouse or workshop were also recorded [Au(abr)] |
