Abstract: |
The watching brief identified extensive early modern infill across the whole of the site. Below the early modern infill of the two eastern trenches were alluvial or marine deposits. Pottery was found of 18th century date. Cartographic evidence identified that the irregular road layout of this area was due to The Mill Pond (a large tidal pond) on the northwest edge of the site. The Mill Pond was infilled in the early to mid 19th century. [Au(abr)] |
