Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken and consisted of an 800x800mm box excavation adjacent to a building for a gate post. The excavation was 900mm deep, 800mm of which was a mid-orangey brown silty sand with flint pebbles. This was sealed by hardcore and concrete. The layer seemed homogenous. Contractors recovered burnt coal, animal bone, glazed pot sherds and clay pipe stems and bowls from the fill. No natural was seen. [Au(adp)] |
