Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of development work on a school. Fourteen machine excavated trenches were located in the south-west area of the development (in the school playing fields) which, as far as possible, enclosed the main area of construction. The evaluation revealed a single archaeological feature, interpreted as a post-medieval boundary ditch in trench three. A wide-scale landscaping event, probably carried out in the 18th-19th centuries was evidenced. Material related to the construction of paper mils near to the study area was also recorded. [Au(abr)] |
