Abstract: |
The watching brief identified that the service trench crossed an area of landscaped ground. The presence of a ditch identified by the RCHME was confirmed, being cut into solid bedrock, 2.6m wide and over 1.0m deep, with almost verticle sides. The age and function of this ditch was not determined, but it was most likely a garden feature associated with the 1670's Great House. No other archaeological features were observed.[Au(abr)] |
