Abstract: |
Save for a medieval dene hole and a pair of undated fire pits no features of archaeological significance were identified in any of the evaluation trenches. The fire pits probably formed part of a temporary camp site. Some of the trenches contained considerable amounts of made ground which was probably associated with the construction of a firing range but possibly deriving from the boundary rampart of a medieval deer park. Artefactual evidence was also extremely scarce, apart from a Neolithic long scraper no material earlier than the post-medieval period was found. [Au(abr)] |
