Abstract: |
<summary2>A desk-based assessment of land adjacent to the quarry was carried out. Although no archaeological remains were identified within the study area itself, their presence could not be wholly ruled out. The area lies within the Milfield Basin, which contains evidence of the Early Medieval kingdom of Northumbria in the form of the palaces at Yeavering and Milfield; it also contains the largest concentration of prehistoric ceremonial monuments in Northern England, as well as a high-grade peat resource for palaeoecological information. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
