Abstract: |
The assessment of the archaeological evidence demonstrated that the site lay within the grounds of St Guthlac's Monastery. The burial ground was the most well defined feature related to the monastery. Other structures identified included what may have been a drain or leat beneath the Stonebow Unit and outside the possible graveyard wall, a smith in the north-west corner of the site adjacent to the cinema and various pits and gravel surfaces to the north-west and north-east of the burial ground.
