Abstract: |
A scheme of archaeological investigation and building recording was undertaken in advance of the redevelopment of the site as a retail-shopping complex. The evaluation consisted of the recording engineer's test-pits and the excavation of an additional trench. The results of this part of the work were archaeologically negative. Building recording consisted of a photographic record of the exterior of all the buildings to be demolished and fuller recording, including measured plans, of a house in Railway Terrace and of the Pig and Whistle Public House.
