Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a site proposed for planting to form a buffer between recent housing developments. Iron Age and Roman remains had been recorded in fields to the immediate south-east, and at sites approximately 1km to the east and 1km to the west. During the evaluation a number of recent features were revealed, including drains, an access road and a fence line, and modern brick and pottery fragments were recovered. A ditch and a probable small pit which could not be dated but which were unlikely to have been modern were also recorded. It was recommended that a watching brief should be undertaken during ground disturbance in the area of the ditch. [AIP] |
