Abstract: |
A documentary assessment of the antiquity of a mound in the north-east corner of Oaklands Park was undertaken. It was concluded that the mound was created sometime between 1875 and 1898 as an ornamental feature of the park, possibly a viewing point over a pond. A postulated earlier origin for the mound, as an altered windmill tump, or feature connected with the nearby Chichester Entrenchments, was not proven. [Au(adp)] |
