Abstract:
A desk-top assessment was undertaken to determine the archaeological implications of proposed development of land adjacent to Church Street, Pinchbeck. Several archaeological sites and findspots were located in the vicinity of the development. Romano-British occupation had been identified nearby, and medieval activity was well represented. Pinchbeck was a wealthy village during the medieval period, evidenced by the church, two manors also held land in the village. Medieval ridge and furrow was evident in the investigation area. The investigation area was once open ground prior to the mid-20th century, when it was developed as a nursery. [Au(abr)]
