Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out at the intersection of Pillory Green and New Street, Napton on the Hill, Warwickshire, to determine if building work disturbed any archaeological finds or deposits. The construction site was situated on the outskirts of the former medieval village (Warwickshire SMR Ref No. WA 744). The only feature of possible archaeological significance revealed was an undated spread of local sandstone rubble, aligned north-south. Medieval finds were restricted to four 13th/14th century pottery sherds recovered from the topsoil. Part of a clay tobacco bowl (late 17th century) and a stem were also recovered.[AIP] |
