Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the replacement of an overhead cable support pole within the ditch at a medieval moated site, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The moat surrounded Sheepbridge Court, a 16th-17th century Grade II Listed Building. Cropmarks immediately to the north of the site, although undated, indicated the presence of a probable prehistoric settlement complex. During the watching brief, a dump deposit on the outer edge of the moat, possibly the remnant of a bank, was observed. A fragment of 18th century roof tile was recovered. [AIP] |
