Abstract: |
Bedfordshire County Council were seeking planning permission for a proposed relief scheme. The scheme was located in the southern part of Bedford, and was deemed to be an area that was archaeologically sensitive. A programme of documentary and cartographic research, and trial trenching was instigated. The majority of features encountered in the trial trenches dated to the post-medieval and modern periods, although there was limited evidence of preceding medieval activity. [AIP] |
