Abstract: |
Seven boreholes were excavated within an area of York which had also contained remains of Roman and Anglian date. Medieval pottery and a large piece of limestone with a simple low relief moulding was recovered. Sections through the site based on the borehole date illustrated the topography of the site, and confirmed previous suggestions that the site stood on a natural spur. It was also interesting to note that the depth and nature of archaeological deposits as recorded by the boreholes also varied depending on their location on site. [Au(adp)] |
