Abstract: |
Further to a re-assessment of sources relating to features on the route of a proposed outfall off Dover a diving inspection at eleven locations along the proposed route was undertaken. The aim of the inspection was to produce information to facilitate decisions regarding any further investigation or mitigation that might be required prior to, or in the course of development. The inspection demonstrated the absence of any material and deposits of archaeological interest. Two of the three known wrecks yielded little of interest, and the only artefactual evidence observed was of relatively recent date and negligible significance. On balance it was decided that further investigation prior to construction was not warranted. [Au(abr)] |
