Abstract: |
The assessment was carried out ahead of proposed development of the 27ha site. To the south west, just outside of the study area, a series of Roman field boundaries and pits were located during road construction and a metal detector survey had recovered Roman finds. There was therefore a possibility that archaeological deposits of Roman date may have extended into the south western part of the study area, but it was not possible to define this more precisely from the available information. The aerial photographic evidence suggested that there may have been a ring ditch, of potential prehistoric date, to the north of Oakhill Road. [Au(abr)] |
