The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 The site was an area of ancient woodland which probably dated back to the medieval period. An iron Age hillfort was located within the wood, close to the proposal area, and prehistoric artefacts from the Mesolithic to the Iron Age periods had been found in the vicinity, as well as Roman coins. In the post-medieval period the proposal area was fields, later part of the Wincobank Hall estate. The hall itself and associated outbuildings were located at the north-east end of the proposal area. No archaeological features were visible at the site visit. [Au(abr)]
