Abstract: |
A survey was undertaken along part of the Cheesden Valley, known as Deeply Vale, to assess the surviving condition of the industrial and pre-industrial remains, and to suggest possible future development of the area as a limited public amenity. Deeply Vale contained the remains of three 19th century mill sites. Related to these mill sites were remains of dwellings, stone quarries, coal mines and reservoirs. Several cairns were also identified, possibly constructed in the late prehistoric period. [Au(abr)] |
