Abstract: |
Although an area rich in extant prehistoric remains, little prehistoric archaeology was apparent within the two study areas. The 'cairn' marked on the modern OS maps appeared to be a Bronze Age cairn recorded in the 20th century. The central mound was disturbed, and stones lying beyond the cairn perimeter may have represented part of the disturbed retaining kerb. The farms of Trevalgan and Rosewall were medieval in date. Rosewall was first mentioned as 'Redegwal' in 1246. Trevalgan being mentioned in 1320. However, there was a wealth of documented evidence referring to tin mining activity on Rosewall Hill including 19th century maps.[Au(abr)] |
