Abstract: |
Archaeological excavations were undertaken within a sports ground which lay within the Mill Area, an area of high archaeological potential. Various post-medieval artefacts were revealed as well as several sherds of medieval pottery and struck flints of prehistoric date from an area of deep silt which was deemed to be a feature. The exact nature of the feature was unclear but the most likely interpretation was that it represented a chalk quarry which had been infilled in the medieval period. [AIP] |
