Abstract: |
The assessment identified that no evidence for any archaeological activity within the site's limits had been recorded. However, five separate findspots were recorded within the limits of the Study Area. These included three sources of Palaeolithic material from recent gravel workings. Also noted were fragments of Bronze Age urn, and a Neolithic hand-axe. Within the wider 3km radius a further 24 Palaeolithic sites had been recorded. Map coverage did suggest that the area occupied by the site was undisturbed farmland, until it was developed for housing in the 1920s. [Au(abr)] |
