Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of a cable trench which crossed the suggested former line of the city wall in Norwich. Although the point where the trench crossed the line of the wall was not actually observed, it was concluded that, given the nature of the results from other parts of the trench, it seemed unlikely that such shallow, small-scale trenching would have afforded much opportunity to recover quality data relating to any surviving remains. In the areas where observations were made, any archaeological remains of significance either survived at levels below those observed or had been destroyed by the intense modern activity which the area had seen.
